This has been our favorite place for Mexican food in Shreveport-Bossier since they opened in the old Dairy Queen, and the food and service are still amazing even after their remodel and opening of a second location which we have not yet visited. My favorite thing there is the Camarones Tequila and my husband loves the Carnitas Pork, but neither one of us has ever ordered anything disappointing. Good margaritas, family feel, and we're glad the remodel has preserved the "dive vibe," to quote one of the other reviewers.

The worst "Mexican food" I have ever had. Ordered beef flautas, queso, and 1 steak taco for pick-up. When I arrived my bill was $17! The following are only some of the reasons this was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. 1. The flautas were the quality of frozen taquitos you would buy at Walmart. In fact, I'm pretty sure they were. 2. The queso was the cheap nacho cheese you buy in a can at the supermarket. 3. The tortilla chips were the cheapest quality yellow corn nachos I have ever had. 4. The steak taco was literally just some overcooked steak pieces in a single corn tortilla. No cheese, no pico de gallo, no cilantro. Literally nothing but steak on a tiny little tortilla. Everything about this meal was absolutely awful.

My taco salad had a ton of weird thousand island dressing on it. Also, the cheese was not fresh, and it probably came out of a bag somewhere! The prices on their lunch specials were hard to beat though. Service was friendly, but the water girl did dump a pitcher of water on the floor/my friend when we were having our cups refilled.

Salsa is great. Food was very tasty. Fajita tacos were sublime. One of the kiddos got crawfish pie tacos and loved them. Very large selection on the menu. Four stars because I asked for no beans and, yes, I got beans. :0P Also we ran out of chips and drinks for way too long. Still, def a place to try. :)

Awesome friendly service...chips are very good and unlimited with salsa. Sauces very good. We only ate here because of comments on Yelp...I was not steered wrong. My wife had the 3 enchiladas with 1/2 sour cream and green sauce and she loved it, have to admit it was tasty. I had the pork chops which were huge a pound of meat which comes with grilled veg with rice and beans. The chips were very good and the salsa kind of standard fare but good. Our drinks were filled constantly and my wife enjoyed her Sweet Tea. Service was excellent - food was very good...the sauces are worth eating here alone. They have specials up till Wed. - of course we came in on a Thursday but still worth the trip. We had bean and cheese nachos which were flavorful but got soggy because of the amount of beans and cheese...no biggie just used the fresh chips on the table.. We will be back to this off the beaten path local spot when in the area.

One of my fave Mexican food places in this area! Love to eat here before an event at the Century Link Center! A great place to fuel up on tacos and margaritas before a concert! Super cheap! Excellent service and fast as well! Been coming here for years, even before, when it was a Dairy Queen! You can't go wrong with the strum of El Mariachi! The best!

I think it's the best Mexican food I've had here in Shreveport. I had delicious enchiladas, rice/beans, endless chips and salsa (very good salsa) and everything was pretty cheap! I've only eaten here once, I'll probably stop by again before I leave shreveport but I went with about 6 other people and everyone was happy with their meal. We were the only customers the day we went so service wasn't bad. It might look a little sketchy but don't judge a book by it's cover. This is some good mexican food in Bossier.

Some of the best Mexican food I have had in the South. I am not a big Margarita fan so I got a shot of their finest rail tequila and a Negra Modelo. My first tests of a Mexican joint are the beans and rice. Excellent here. The crunchy tacos dorados (folded) are as good as anything out of AZ or NM. Tamales here are small but not bad. My problem is the sauces -- porque no usar los chiles? The sauces are underwhelming, the table salsa is a B-. Hey, it ain't any better in Georgia. My 5 stars are for the clean but dive vibe, respectful waitstaff, very good to excellent food (for the most part) and it is cheap. ¡Horale!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
